The latest statistics released by the department of defense show that over 30,000 of our military have been wounded during the engagements in Iraq and Afghanistan. Regardless on your stand on the war issue, the fact is that we are there, and that many brave men and women have been killed or wounded while serving our country. At a time when the country is very divided on the issue it is important to remember there are those who serve in the United States Military in order to protect our way of life and liberty. "We will never forget" was meant to be more that a sound bite of the 9-11 moment in our history. It only seems proper that we give back to those brave men and women who have given of themselves. The primary goal the Purple Heart Dive Team is to help these heroes to get "Back in Action" with their readjustment to a normal life.

The Purple Heart Dive Team was established this year to offer a way for both the community and non profit sector to give thanks to our Purple Heart recipients. Our mission is to provide a unique and memorable form of rehabilitation combining the physical exercise of underwater diving with camaraderie of team efforts in a unique sub-surface experience. This opportunity is created by diving in the environmentally advanced man made reefs of Florida and is supported by the Purple Heart Dive Team a 501C3 non profit. Through these programs those who have been wounded in the line of duty will take part in programs designed to accommodate their special needs while providing them a life altering perspective often needed to adjust to the severe injuries they endured.

The Purple Heart dive team was designed to provide rehabilitation to our nations wounded soldiers. As the organization grows our protectors will learn new skills and find employment opportunities within the organization. As one of our primary goals Purple Heart Dive Team has committed that any vacancy capable of being filled by our veterans will first be offered to our Team Members. There will always be a Team contact for those brave men and women who have been wounded while in service to our country with Purple Heart Dive Team and Reef Builders International.
